Cocktail Recipes:


Old Fashioned

This classic cocktail was traditionally made with Rye, but it tastes just as wonderful with either Bourbon or Applejack!

  • 2 oz Tom’s Foolery Ohio Straight Bourbon, Rye or Applejack

  • 1⁄2 tsp Sugar

  • 3 dashes Angostura bitters 1 tsp

  • Water

  • Garnish: Orange peel

Add the sugar, bitters and water into a rocks glass, and stir until sugar is nearly dissolved.

Fill the glass with large ice cubes, add the bourbon, and gently stir to combine the flavors.

Express the oil of an orange peel over the glass, then drop in.

 

Whiskey Sour

  • 1 1⁄2 oz  Tom’s Foolery Bourbon, Rye or Applejack

  • 3⁄4 oz Fresh lemon juice

  • 3⁄4 oz Simple syrup (1 part water, 1 part sugar)

  •  Garnish: 1 Lime wedge, 1 cherry

Add all the ingredients to a shaker filled with ice and shake.

Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.

Garnish with a cherry and lemon wedge.

 

Scofflaw

  • 2 oz Tom’s Foolery Bourbon or Rye whiskey

  • 1 oz Dry vermouth

  • 1⁄4 oz Lemon juice

  • 1⁄2 oz Grenadine

  • 2 dashes Orange bitters

Add all the ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice.

Shake, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

 

Manhattan

  • 2 oz Tom’s Foolery Bourbon, Rye or Applejack

  • 1 oz Italian sweet vermouth

  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters

  •  Garnish: Luxurado Cherry

Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass and fill with ice.

Stir, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Garnish with a cherry.

(If you prefer a dry Manhattan, use dry vermouth instead of sweet and garnish with a lemon twist)

 

Mint Julep

  • 2 oz Tom’s Foolery Bourbon

  • 1⁄4 oz  Simple syrup

  • 8  Mint leaves

  • Garnish: Bitters (optional); 1 Mint sprig

In a Julep cup or rocks glass, lightly muddle the mint and syrup.

Add the bourbon and pack tightly with crushed ice.

Stir until the cup is frosted on the outside.

Top with more crushed ice to form an ice dome and garnish with a few drops of bitters, if desired, and a mint sprig.

 

Brooklyn

  • 2 ounces Tom’s Foolery Rye

  • 1 ounce dry vermouth

  • 1/4 ounce maraschino liqueur

  • 1/4 ounce Amer Picon, or a few dashes Angostura or orange bitters

Combine ingredients with ice and stir until well-chilled. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

 

Sazerac

  • 2 ounces Tom’s Foolery Rye whiskey

  • 1 teaspoon sugar        

  • 3 or 4 dashes Peychaud's Bitters

  • a few drops water

  • 1 teaspoon Herbsaint, Pernod, pastis, or absinthe

  • Lemon peel

Chill an Old Fashioned glass or small tumbler in your freezer.

In a mixing glass, combine sugar, Bitters, and a few drops of water. Mix until sugar is dissolved, and add rye. Add plenty of ice, and stir for about 30 seconds.

Pour Herbsaint, pastis, or absinthe into your chilled glass, and rotate glass until the inside is well coated; discard the excess. Strain the liquid from your mixing glass into the serving glass. Twist a piece of lemon peel over the drink. Indulge.

 

Diamondback

  • 1 1/2 ounces Tom’s Foolery Rye whiskey

  • 3/4 ounce Tom’s Foolery Applejack

  • 3/4 ounce green Chartreuse

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry.

Jack Rose

  • 2 Parts Tom’s Foolery Applejack Applejack

  • ¾ Part Grenadine

  • ¾ Part Lime Juice

Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add all ingredients. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Little John

  • 1 Part Tom’s Foolery Bourbon

  • 1 Part Tom’s Foolery Applejack

  • 1 Part Lemon Juice

  • 1 Dash Orange Bitters

Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add all ingredients. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Princess Mary's Pride Cocktail

  • 1 Part Tom’s Foolery Applejack

  • ½ Part Dry Vermouth

  • ½ Part Dubonnet

Fill a mixing glass with ice cubes. Add all ingredients. Stir and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

 

Chagrin Mule

  • 1½ oz. Tom’s Foolery Applejack

  • ½ oz. fresh lime juice

  • 3 dashes Angostura bitters (optional)

  • Ginger beer

  • Lime wedge

Combine all ingredients, except ginger beer, and shake with ice. Strain into an ice-filled glass, top with ginger beer and garnish with lime wedge.

 

Honeymoon

  • 3/4 oz. Tom’s Foolery Applejack

  • 3/4 oz. Bénédictine

  • 3/4 oz. Cointreau

  • 3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled coupe.
